Veneers
Porcelain Veneers are very thin, custom –made laminates, which are bonded to your teeth.
They improve shape, colour, size and arrangement of teeth with dramatic results.
It usually only takes two visits to transform your smile and restore your teeth with veneers
- At the first appointment the teeth are shaped. Minimal tooth reduction is carried out,
depending on decay, shape etc
- An impression is taken of the prepared teeth and is sent to a Dental Laboratory.
Temporary veneers are placed.
- In the Laboratory the ceramicist will artistically create very thin porcelain facings to fit the prepared teeth.
- At the second visit the veneers are bonded to the teeth with an adhesive and a high
intensity light. This produces a very strong bond and you can use the teeth as normal.
Porcelain veneers are the most popular technique for dramatic smile makeovers.
Life expectancy of veneers may vary, as in all treatments. Generally they should last between five and twelve years. Our personal clinical experience has shown a much longer
life expectancy. In fact we have several current patients who had porcelain veneers
placed over 20 years ago and they are still looking great.
Of course, factors such as oral hygiene and diet will influence the longevity of restorations.
We recommend regular visits with the Hygienist and Dentist to maintain your teeth. |
