Dental Implants

Smile with confidence

Feeling self conscious about your missing teeth or wobbly dentures?  You’re not alone.  Bring back your natural smile and your self-confidence with functional and aesthetic dental implants.

Dental implants replace teeth without compromising the quality of adjacent teeth.  Since they attach directly to the jawbone, implants look and feel like real teeth, and they prevent bone loss and gum recession.

Don’t let missing teeth affect how you chew, smile or live your life. Restore your smile and confidence with a permanent dental implant.  Ask us if implants are right for you.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots in the form of a small titanium screw. When carefully placed in the jaw these integrate fully with the bone – the dental implant becomes part of your jaw.  The light and durable metal implant acts as an anchor for a false tooth or a set of false teeth.  The attached artificial tooth, which is matched to the exact colour of your natural teeth, looks and feels completely natural.

Are Implants right for me?

A secure, long-term smile solution, implants are ideal for people of all ages who have lost teeth due to injury, periodontal disease or other causes.  Dental implants can replace a full set of missing teeth, certain types of bridges and removable partial dentures.

The best implant candidates are those with healthy gums, good general oral health, a strong commitment to oral hygiene and enough bone near the missing teeth for the implant to attach securely to the jaw.  Even if you are not an ideal candidate there are various complementary procedures including bone grafting and sinus augmentation that can help prepare your mouth to accept implants.

Procedure of placing an implant

Placing the dental implants is a surgical procedure, which can be carried out under local anaesthetic.  As with all surgical procedures some discomfort may be felt immediately after surgery and the following weeks.  This is part of the normal healing process.

The implants need to fuse (integrate) with the bone after they have been placed.  We may need to provide you with a temporary restoration during this period of time.  If you have dentures these can be worn throughout the healing period after they have been adjusted.
